EXL Risk Control is seeking a Loss Control Consultant to join our team in Buffalo, Erie County. This full-time position offers experienced professionals the opportunity to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and loss control surveys for commercial lines insurance carriers throughout the region.

About the Role

In this role, you'll evaluate commercial properties and operations to identify risks and recommend loss control measures that help insurance carriers make underwriting decisions and prevent claims. Your work will directly impact how carriers assess and manage risk across their portfolios, making this a cornerstone function within the insurance ecosystem. You'll balance field-based inspections with detailed analytical work and client interaction.

What You'll Do

• Conduct on-site loss control surveys and comprehensive risk assessments at commercial facilities
• Evaluate building conditions, operations, safety procedures, and loss exposures
• Document findings and prepare detailed survey reports for insurance carriers and brokers
• Provide clear, actionable recommendations to mitigate identified risks
• Communicate survey results and guidance to clients with professionalism and clarity
• Meet client and carrier deadlines while maintaining high report quality standards
• Maintain accurate records and coordinate with underwriting and claims teams

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 10 years of commercial Property & Casualty risk control experience with a major insurance carrier or national broker
• Deep knowledge of commercial insurance lines, exposures, and underwriting practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Strong computer skills and ability to master new software systems
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and meet client expectations consistently
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to work accuracy
