About the Role
As a Licensed Psychiatric Technician in our corrections behavioral health program, you'll deliver direct patient care, monitor psychiatric medications, and support therapeutic interventions under the supervision of psychiatrists and clinical staff. You'll work evening shifts (5 days per week, 8-hour shifts, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM) in a fast-paced, security-conscious environment where your clinical skills make an immediate difference in patient outcomes and facility safety.
What You'll Do
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and document patient mental health status and behavioral changes
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects and therapeutic response
- Implement behavioral management strategies and therapeutic interventions
- Respond to mental health crises, de-escalation situations, and psychiatric emergencies
- Maintain detailed clinical records and communicate findings with the treatment team
- Support suicide prevention protocols and safety monitoring
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and custody staff to ensure integrated care
- Educate patients on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and medication compliance
What We're Looking For
- Current California license as a Psychiatric Technician (LPT)
- Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings (corrections experience valued)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse, complex populations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with electronic health records and medical documentation
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professional ethics
- Flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts as assigned
