Position Summary
Ruah Legal Services (RLS) is seeking a dedicated Lawyer to join our team in delivering comprehensive legal representation integrated with psychosocial support. As part of the Mental Health Law Centre (MHLC), you will provide end-to-end legal services to clients experiencing severe mental illness, focusing on Care and Protection, Criminal Law, Restraining Orders, the Mental Health Act, and Guardianship and Administration Act matters.
Core Duties
- Provide legal advice and representation in a range of areas including Care and Protection, Criminal Law, Restraining Orders, the Mental Health Act, and Guardianship and Administration Act matters.
- Conduct thorough research to support case preparation and advocacy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Advocate on behalf of clients in court proceedings and other legal forums.
- Provide psychosocial support alongside legal services where appropriate.
Requirements
- A qualified Lawyer with a current practicing certificate from the Law Society of Western Australia.
- Experience in mental health law or related areas is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- A commitment to providing high-quality legal services with a focus on client welfare.
