HR Business Services Specialist (Contract)

AlixPartners is seeking an HR Business Services Specialist (Contract) to join our team in New York City, New York, on a full-time basis. You'll partner directly with business units to deliver strategic people solutions that accelerate organizational performance and growth.

Position Summary

As an HR Business Services Specialist, you will serve as a trusted HR partner to our business leaders, translating people-focused strategies into tangible results. Your role bridges corporate HR initiatives with day-to-day operational needs, ensuring our teams have the support, guidance, and resources they need to succeed in a dynamic, high-impact environment.

What You'll Do

• Act as a primary HR contact for assigned business units, providing expert counsel on employee relations, talent development, and organizational design
• Support full-cycle recruitment and hiring processes, from job requisition planning through offer negotiation and onboarding
• Administer HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements; handle inquiries and resolve issues at the employee, manager, and organizational level
• Facilitate performance management cycles, including goal-setting, feedback delivery, and compensation discussions
• Design and execute employee engagement programs, cultural initiatives, and team-building activities
• Gather HR metrics and data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and drive process improvements
• Partner with Finance, Legal, and other departments on projects affecting workforce planning and resource allocation

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on HR experience, with demonstrated success in a business partner or generalist capacity
• Deep knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and regulatory requirements in New York
• Proven ability to build credible relationships with C-suite and front-line employees alike
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfort navigating sensitive people conversations
• Experience with HR information systems, analytics tools, and data-driven problem-solving
• Project management capability and comfort with fast-paced, consultative environments
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; SHRM certification preferred
