Homeless Resource Coordinator (Closes 8/3)

Allegheny County is hiring a full-time Homeless Resource Coordinator to serve the Pittsburgh, PA community. In this essential role, you'll connect individuals experiencing homelessness with critical support services and work toward sustainable housing solutions.

Role Overview

As a Homeless Resource Coordinator with Allegheny County, you'll serve as a bridge between vulnerable populations and the comprehensive network of social services available across our region. You'll conduct intake assessments, develop individualized service plans, and guide clients through the process of accessing housing, employment, healthcare, and other essential resources. This position requires compassion, organizational ability, and a commitment to dignified, person-centered service delivery.

What You'll Do

• Meet with individuals experiencing homelessness to assess needs, document backgrounds, and identify barriers to stability
• Connect clients with appropriate housing programs, emergency shelters, transitional housing, or permanent supportive housing options
• Coordinate referrals to mental health services, substance abuse treatment, medical care, and employment assistance programs
• Maintain detailed case management records and follow up regularly with clients to monitor progress and adjust service plans
• Collaborate with nonprofits, government agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive support
• Assist with applications for benefits, housing programs, employment training, and other services
• Provide basic advocacy and troubleshooting when clients encounter barriers to accessing services

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field preferred
• Demonstrated experience working with underserved, vulnerable, or homeless populations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex processes clearly
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and documentation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Allegheny County
• Compassion, cultural competence, and non-judgmental approach to service delivery
