Health Unit Coordinator-Inpatient Hospice Care Center

Cleveland Clinic's Justin T. Roger Hospice Care Center in North Hill, Summit County is seeking a full-time Health Unit Coordinator to support our compassionate end-of-life care team. As a Health Unit Coordinator in Inpatient Hospice Care, you'll play a vital administrative and clinical coordination role that enables our physicians, nurses, and care staff to focus on providing comfort and dignity to patients and their families during this important time.

Position Summary

The Health Unit Coordinator serves as an essential link between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary hospice care team at our inpatient care center. You will manage unit operations, coordinate patient logistics, and ensure seamless communication among clinical staff—all while maintaining a calm, compassionate presence that reflects our commitment to end-of-life care excellence.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and room assignments for the inpatient hospice unit
• Answer phones, direct inquiries, and greet patients and family members with professionalism and empathy
• Maintain and organize patient medical records, ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant with healthcare standards
• Schedule appointments, procedures, and interdisciplinary team meetings; relay critical information to clinical staff
• Serve as the central point of communication between care team members, families, physicians, and support departments
• Provide clerical and administrative support to nurses and physicians so they can focus on direct patient care

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; prior healthcare or administrative experience preferred
• Proficiency with medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong active listening ability
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
• Genuine compassion for patients and families facing end-of-life transition; ability to maintain professional emotional boundaries
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with diverse clinical and support teams
