About the Role
Join our respiratory care team at UPMC Shadyside and grow your clinical skills in a supportive teaching environment. This full-time position provides mentorship from experienced respiratory therapy professionals while you contribute directly to patient outcomes across diverse hospital units.
What You'll Do
- Administer respiratory treatments and manage ventilator support systems for hospitalized patients
- Conduct pulmonary function testing and diagnostic procedures to assess breathing function
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on respiratory care plans
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and mechanical ventilators
- Monitor patients during therapy and document clinical findings in medical records
- Assist with airway management and emergency response procedures
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain patient safety standards
What We're Looking For
- Associate or bachelor's degree in respiratory care from an accredited program
- Current CRT certification or active pursuit of CRT/RRT credentialing eligibility
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or ability to obtain before employment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for hospital-based teamwork
- Commitment to patient-centered care and clinical quality
- Flexibility with shift-based schedules, including potential evening and night shifts
