About the Role
As a Fullstack Web Development Online Instructor for BYU-Pathway Worldwide, you become a vital member of the instructional team serving learners based in Brazil. This is a remote, work-from-home position centered entirely on student achievement. Rather than authoring lessons, writing assessments, or assigning grades — those responsibilities belong to a separate, centrally coordinated pool of qualified Graders — you devote your energy to teaching, mentoring, and helping every learner gain confidence in their academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and mentor students using backend and fullstack technologies, including Node.js, React, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.
- Deliver instruction across the following courses: ITM 111 (Introduction to Database), CSE 340 (Web Backend Development), CSE 341 (Web Services), and WDD 430 (Web Fullstack Development).
- Spot patterns and trends that may be slowing a student's academic progress.
- Reach out proactively to specific groups and individual learners who would benefit from added support.
- Foster capable, self-assured learners equipped to succeed in their studies and beyond.
- Participate in periodic team meetings scheduled by the department.
Qualifications
- Subject-matter expertise in fullstack and backend web development, with hands-on command of Node.js, React, and both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Fluency in English; applications must be submitted in English to be considered.
- Current residency in Brazil with authorization to work there.
- Availability for 10–12 hours per week (varying week to week), spread across at least five days each week.
- Willingness to uphold the CES Honor Code and the associated dress and grooming standards as an institutional representative and mentor.
