Founding Recruiter

Alpaca Health is hiring a Founding Recruiter to build our team in New York City. As we expand our mission to empower clinicians with technology and infrastructure for scaling their own healthcare practices, you'll lead all talent acquisition efforts from day one.

What This Role Involves

You'll be the first dedicated recruiting leader at an early-stage healthcare technology company, working directly with founders to identify talent needs and build a world-class team across product, engineering, operations, and clinical roles. This full-time position offers the rare opportunity to shape company culture and hiring strategy during critical scaling phases, with direct input on each hire and their impact on the organization's mission.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute the complete recruiting function: strategy, sourcing, interviewing, and offer negotiation
• Build and manage a pipeline across engineering, product, operations, and clinical talent relevant to our healthcare and software focus
• Conduct candidate screening and assessment with an emphasis on values alignment and team fit
• Partner with founders to define role requirements, compensation frameworks, and hiring timelines
• Establish recruiting processes and employer brand that attract mission-driven talent
• Manage the entire candidate experience from initial contact through onboarding

What You Bring

• Proven experience in technical or startup recruiting, ideally in early-stage environments
• Strong ability to assess talent across diverse roles and functional areas
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; comfort working independently and collaboratively with founders
• Understanding of healthcare, healthcare technology, or healthcare entrepreneurship is a plus
• Experience building recruiting infrastructure, sourcing networks, and hiring processes from scratch
• Self-motivation, adaptability, and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving startup
