East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation seeks an Executive Vice President of Real Estate Development to lead its affordable housing portfolio in Oakland, Alameda County. This full-time leadership position reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and offers the opportunity to shape transformative residential development across the Bay Area.
Position Summary
As EVP of Real Estate Development, you will direct a dynamic department responsible for identifying, financing, and executing one of the region's most important affordable housing initiatives. You'll serve as the strategic visionary and operational architect for a portfolio that advances community housing stability, equity, and economic mobility. This is a senior role requiring seasoned expertise in real estate finance, development strategy, and cross-sector partnership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute long-range real estate development strategy aligned with organizational mission and market realities
- Oversee all phases of development: site acquisition, feasibility analysis, financing structuring, entitlements, construction management, and lease-up
- Build and maintain relationships with public agencies, institutional lenders, community stakeholders, and development partners
- Lead project performance monitoring and financial reporting to ensure portfolio sustainability
- Cultivate and mentor a high-performing development team
- Represent the organization at industry and community forums
Requirements
- 15+ years in real estate development, with demonstrated leadership in affordable housing or mixed-income projects
- Proven track record closing complex transactions and securing public and private funding
- Expert knowledge of federal and state housing programs, tax credits, bonds, and subsidy structures
- Strong financial acumen and ability to read development proformas and capital stacks
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Master's degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered
- Located in or willing to relocate to Oakland or the East Bay
