ENL Teacher

Icahn Charter Schools, part of Icahn Enterprises Holdings, is hiring an experienced English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher for our Franklin D Roosevelt, Manhattan location. This full-time position is ideal for a skilled educator passionate about supporting English language learners in achieving academic excellence.

What This Role Involves

You will instruct students in English language development using curriculum and methods aligned with state and federal standards. Your instruction will complement the school's overall academic program, helping students build language proficiency while meeting rigorous achievement expectations. You'll create a classroom where diverse learners thrive.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and teach English curriculum that meets state and federal standards
• Create instructional materials and assessments tailored to student language development needs
• Monitor student progress in English proficiency and academic achievement
• Implement classroom strategies that support diverse learners and promote language acquisition
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate ENL instruction with core academics
• Maintain communication with families about student progress and learning objectives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Valid New York teaching certification or path to certification
• TESOL certification, ESL endorsement, or demonstrated experience teaching English language learners
• Expertise in English language instruction methodologies and assessment
• Passion for working with students from varied linguistic and cultural backgrounds
