Position Summary

As Director of PBM Drug Trend Intelligence, you'll own the research, analysis, and strategic insights that inform pharmacy benefit management strategy across UnitedHealth Group. In this leadership role, you'll translate complex pharmacy market data into actionable intelligence that guides product development, contract negotiations, and value creation. Your insights will directly influence how Optum optimizes drug benefits delivery and cost management for employers, health plans, and patients nationwide.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain advanced analytics frameworks that track pharmaceutical utilization trends, pricing dynamics, and market shifts
• Lead cross-functional teams to design and execute research projects on drug efficacy, cost patterns, and emerging therapy adoption
• Synthesize complex pharmacy data into clear, strategic insights for executive leadership and business partners
• Collaborate with clinical, actuarial, and commercial teams to embed trend intelligence into product strategy and network management
• Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives and board-level audiences
• Build and mentor a high-performing analytics team focused on pharmacy market intelligence

Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of healthcare, pharmacy, or data analytics experience, with at least 5 years in a director or senior leadership role
• Deep knowledge of pharmacy benefit management, drug pricing, and pharmacy market dynamics
• Advanced proficiency with data analytics platforms, SQL, Python, or equivalent statistical tools
• Proven track record leading strategy initiatives and influencing enterprise-level decisions
• Strong presentation and executive communication skills
• Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Experience building and managing analytics teams
