Join Albany Jewish Community Center as Director of Human Resources, leading our human resources operations across our Ny State Campus in Albany County. About the Role

As Director of Human Resources at Albany Jewish Community Center, you'll oversee all aspects of our human resources function, from recruitment and onboarding through staff development and retention. You'll shape the policies, practices, and culture that enable our team to deliver exceptional programs in education, physical fitness, and community life. Your leadership will ensure that our organization attracts, develops, and retains talented professionals who share our commitment to Jewish values and community service.

What You'll Do

• Direct recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes to build a strong, diverse team aligned with organizational values
• Develop and administer human resources policies, compensation structures, and benefits programs
• Lead performance management, professional development, and succession planning initiatives
• Foster an inclusive workplace culture rooted in our commitment to serving the full spectrum of family life
• Manage employee relations, handle workplace concerns, and ensure compliance with employment law
• Collaborate with program leaders across education, fitness, and community programming to support team needs
• Oversee human resources budget and analytics to demonstrate the impact of people initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Director of Human Resources or senior HR leader in a non-profit, community-based, or mission-driven organization
• Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement people strategies that support organizational growth
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels
• Experience recruiting and retaining talent in education, fitness, wellness, or community program environments
• Strategic mindset combined with hands-on capability in day-to-day HR operations
• Commitment to Jewish values, community service, and diversity and inclusion
