Director of HSE

Walshgroup is hiring a Director of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) for our Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin location. This full-time leadership position oversees all aspects of workplace safety, environmental compliance, and health initiatives across our operations.

What This Role Involves

As Director of HSE, you'll be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs that protect our workforce and ensure regulatory compliance. You'll lead by example, fostering a strong safety culture and driving continuous improvement in our safety performance and environmental practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute HSE policies, procedures, and programs aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and areas for improvement
• Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence
• Manage regulatory compliance and maintain relationships with environmental and occupational safety agencies
• Lead safety training and awareness programs for all employees
• Oversee emergency preparedness and response protocols
• Report on HSE metrics and performance to senior management and stakeholders
• Build and mentor the HSE team to meet operational objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field
• Extensive professional experience in HSE roles, including demonstrated leadership in health, safety, and environmental management
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and workplace safety standards
• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to develop and implement data-driven HSE strategies and programs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience influencing teams at all organizational levels
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor HSE professionals and cross-functional teams
