The New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Director of Enterprise Artificial Intelligence, Data, and Analytics to lead its newly established AI, Data, and Analytics section within the Information Technology Bureau. Based in Latham, New York, this full-time, senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape how one of the nation's largest state attorneys general leverages technology to advance its investigative and enforcement missions.
About the Role
As Section Chief, you will oversee strategy, development, and implementation of enterprise artificial intelligence and data analytics across OAG operations. This newly created position reflects the state's commitment to modernizing its technology infrastructure and enabling data-driven decision-making in service of the agency's public mandate.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute enterprise AI and data analytics strategy aligned with OAG's mission and New York State IT governance standards
- Build and lead the AI-Data section team, fostering technical excellence and a culture of innovation
- Establish data governance frameworks, security protocols, and compliance standards for AI and analytics initiatives
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to apply AI and advanced analytics to improve agency investigations, operations, and service delivery
- Collaborate with other bureaus and state agencies to integrate analytics capabilities and share technical expertise
- Oversee budgets, project timelines, and vendor partnerships for technology infrastructure and innovation initiatives
- Monitor emerging AI and data science developments to keep OAG at the forefront of public-sector technology adoption
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience leading technology teams and delivering large-scale software or data initiatives
- Strong technical foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, data science, or related fields
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical leaders and stakeholders
- Experience implementing data governance, security, and compliance programs in regulated environments
- Strategic leadership skills and demonstrated ability to influence across organizational boundaries
- Familiarity with government technology operations or public-sector environments preferred
