About the Role
As Deputy Director, you'll oversee a diverse portfolio of housing initiatives designed to expand access to affordable homes and strengthen neighborhoods across the region. You'll lead from acquisition through completion, directing financing strategies, project timelines, and on-the-ground implementation while ensuring every initiative aligns with community needs and organizational priorities.
What You'll Do
- Manage the full development lifecycle of affordable housing projects—from site identification and due diligence through construction, financing, and occupancy
- Secure and structure funding from federal, state, and local sources, including HUD programs, tax credits, and grants
- Lead land acquisition, environmental assessments, and infrastructure planning for new development sites
- Collaborate with community partners, municipal officials, and stakeholders to advance shared housing and development goals
- Oversee budgets, timelines, and compliance with all applicable regulations and funding requirements
- Provide strategic direction to housing and development teams and represent the organization in professional and community forums
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience in housing development, community development, or related program management
- Demonstrated expertise in affordable housing finance, including knowledge of HUD programs, LOW-INC tax credits, and conventional financing
- Strong project management capabilities with proven ability to deliver complex initiatives on time and within budget
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in real estate, urban planning, finance, business administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Leadership presence and experience managing or supervising teams
