Cognizant is seeking an experienced Consulting Principal with deep expertise in healthcare payer operations to lead transformational engagements in Tumwater, Thurston County. About the Role
As a Consulting Principal specializing in healthcare payer solutions, you'll serve as the executive lead for client engagements across insurance, claims management, benefits administration, and member services. You'll bring deep subject matter expertise to guide strategy, design solutions, and drive successful implementation of advisory and technology initiatives that reshape how health plans operate and compete.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end consulting engagements for Fortune 500 healthcare payers, from discovery and business case development through solution implementation and value realization
- Leverage healthcare payer subject matter expertise to assess client operations, identify improvement opportunities, and architect innovative business solutions
- Develop strategic roadmaps covering claims management, member engagement, digital health capabilities, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance
- Advise C-suite and senior leadership teams on industry trends, competitive positioning, and transformation priorities
- Build and mentor consulting teams, ensuring quality delivery and knowledge transfer across projects
- Grow client relationships and identify expansion opportunities across the healthcare payer segment
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of consulting or healthcare payer industry experience, with significant exposure to health plan operations, business strategy, and technology transformation
- Demonstrated expertise in healthcare payer domains including claims, enrollment, member services, actuarial functions, or provider networks
- Proven ability to lead complex engagements, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver measurable business impact for enterprise clients
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience designing scalable, data-informed solutions
- MBA or equivalent advanced professional experience preferred
- Travel availability as project work requires
