CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Construction Management Professional 7 to lead water and wastewater infrastructure construction projects from our Chicago office in the Illinois Medical District. This full-time position offers senior-level responsibility for managing complex water resource development and facility construction initiatives through completion.

About the Role

As a Construction Management Professional 7, you will direct construction operations on significant water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You'll manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety across all phases of construction. You'll serve as a key liaison between our firm, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies on these critical water infrastructure initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily construction activities and monitor contractor performance on water and wastewater projects
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and change orders to maintain project objectives
  • Coordinate site inspections and document construction progress and regulatory compliance
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, work schedules, and quality assurance plans
  • Maintain clear communication between project stakeholders and address issues proactively
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, safety standards, and contract requirements
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to professional development of the construction team
  • Prepare project reports and maintain comprehensive construction records and documentation

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Minimum 10+ years of construction management experience with water or wastewater projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional credentials
  • In-depth knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure systems and municipal utilities
  • Demonstrated success managing large project budgets and complex construction schedules
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proficiency with construction management software and contract administration practices
