Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments using medical history, lab data, and anthropometrics to identify risks and needs for patients at Mercy Medical Center
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nutrition care plans that address disease-specific requirements and promote recovery
• Deliver clear education and counseling to patients and caregivers on therapeutic diets, enteral or parenteral support, and sustainable lifestyle adjustments
• Partner daily with physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and other clinicians to integrate nutrition into overall treatment strategies
• Document all recommendations, interventions, and progress accurately within the electronic medical record
• Monitor outcomes, adjust interventions based on clinical response, and participate in rounds or care conferences
• Mentor dietetic students or less experienced staff and contribute ideas that strengthen departmental quality initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a closely related field from an accredited program; master’s preferred for advanced practice depth
• Active credential as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Current state dietitian licensure or eligibility in the jurisdiction serving Mercy Medical Center
• Demonstrated clinical experience sufficient to perform at the Clinical Dietitian II level, including management of higher-acuity or specialized cases
• Proficiency with nutrition-focused physical exams, enteral and parenteral calculations, and evidence-based guidelines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced medical center setting
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and patient-centered care
