Claims Examiner – Liability | GL, BI and Litigation Experience Required | Licensing: Required – Remote

Sedgwick is seeking a full-time Claims Examiner specializing in Liability claims to join our remote team, based in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan. In this role, you'll investigate and manage complex general liability, business interruption, and litigation-related claims, working directly with claimants, attorneys, and internal stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently and fairly.

About the Role

As a Claims Examiner - Liability, you'll be responsible for handling the full lifecycle of liability claims, from initial investigation through resolution. This position demands deep expertise in general liability and business interruption coverage analysis, combined with the ability to navigate litigation matters with confidence and precision. You'll work independently in a remote environment while maintaining the high standards Sedgwick's clients expect.

What You'll Do

• Investigate liability claims by gathering and reviewing documentation, interviewing parties, and assessing coverage applicability
• Analyze general liability and business interruption policies to determine coverage limits and exclusions
• Manage claims with litigation exposure, coordinating with defense counsel and managing claim reserves appropriately
• Communicate with claimants, insureds, and third-party representatives to gather information and provide claim status updates
• Prepare detailed claim reports and recommendations for coverage determinations
• Ensure compliance with state regulations and company policies throughout the claims process

What We're Looking For

• Current professional license required (adjuster license or equivalent as required by Michigan)
• Demonstrated experience handling general liability claims
• Proven background investigating business interruption claims
• Substantial experience managing claims with litigation involvement
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple claims in a remote setting
