About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential pharmaceutical organization building its US presence in rare diseases and oncology. Our client is preparing to launch an innovative allogeneic cellular therapy for patients suffering from a devastating rare lymphoma that can occur after bone marrow or solid organ transplantation. This is a builder's role—ideal for professionals who thrive in start-up environments and want to contribute to bringing a potentially transformative therapy to patients in need.

As a Cellular Therapy Account Director for the Southwest territory (Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico), you will lead disease awareness efforts, develop relationships with clinical and non-clinical experts, and drive the complex onboarding process required for launching a cell therapy product. Post-approval, you'll be responsible for driving appropriate utilization and supporting treatment centers within your assigned institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate complex academic medical centers by identifying stakeholder needs and collaborating cross-functionally with medical affairs, market access, and cell therapy operations teams
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans integrating customer insights and analytical data
  • Pre-approval activities: Conduct disease state education, lead site-of-care onboarding, perform market mapping and research
  • Engage with medical experts in cell therapy, bone marrow transplant, lymphoma, and solid organ transplantation who manage the target rare disease
  • Map institutional processes including patient flow, referral networks, and operational workflows to prepare for allogeneic cell therapy onboarding
  • Create detailed site account plans and coordinate with internal functions to ensure efficient customer experience
  • Partner with service line directors, administrators, coordinators, pharmacy committees, and transplant administrators
  • Post-approval activities: Promote the therapy through deep disease knowledge and clinical expertise, educate on efficacy and safety, drive appropriate utilization in suitable patients
  • Provide support at professional meetings including staffing exhibits and facilitating meetings with medical experts
  • Share account and HCP insights highlighting business trends, competitive shifts, and therapeutic landscape changes

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Deep expertise required in cell or gene therapy service lines
  • Sales experience in ultra-rare disease, ideally cell and gene therapy
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and convey complex treatment modalities with high scientific aptitude
  • Proven experience in collaborative, complex matrix environments
  • Ability to appropriately access and handle business information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Passion for making a difference in patients' lives
  • Preferred: Launch experience in high-acuity therapeutic areas such as ultra-rare disease
  • Preferred: Existing relationships in cell therapy, bone marrow transplantation, or solid organ transplantation service lines
  • Preferred: Experience managing large geographies and demonstrated success in large academic institutions
  • Preferred: Rare oncology and/or transplant setting background
  • Remote role with regular daily and overnight travel expected within the territory up to 70%
