Board Member (FCP Tribal Member Only)

Potawatomi Business Development Corporation seeks a dedicated Board Member based in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County to provide strategic governance and mission-focused leadership. This is a full-time governance position exclusively open to Forest County Potawatomi Tribal Members.

About the Role

Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors for Potawatomi Business Development Corporation, a tribal enterprise driving economic development for the Forest County Potawatomi Community. In this governance role, you will partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer and fellow board members to advance organizational strategy, ensure accountability, and strengthen the company's impact. You will operate under the direction of the Forest County Potawatomi Community's Executive Council and represent their interests in all board matters.

What You'll Do

• Attend regular board meetings and actively participate in strategic discussions and decisions
• Serve on committees focused on finance, audit, governance, or operational priorities
• Provide objective oversight of organizational performance, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance
• Work collaboratively with the CEO to advance business objectives and strategic initiatives
• Contribute strategic insight on market opportunities and community benefit initiatives
• Ensure all board actions align with organizational mission and tribal values
• Participate in board development and governance training

What We're Looking For

• Current membership in the Forest County Potawatomi Community (required)
• Demonstrated leadership experience in business, governance, or community-based organizations
• Understanding of nonprofit or tribal business governance principles and fiduciary duties
• Genuine commitment to economic development and the community's long-term success
• Strategic thinking ability and sound business judgment
• Willingness to dedicate time to regular meetings and board responsibilities
• Collaborative mindset and respect for diverse viewpoints
