Photo and Design Specialist (Hybrid Eligible)

Boise State University seeks a Photo and Design Specialist (Hybrid Eligible) to strengthen the university's visual brand across all institutional communications. This full-time position is based in Idaho City, Boise County and focuses on creating compelling design and photography that represent Boise State to students, alumni, and the public.

About the Role

You'll serve as a key visual communicator for the university, developing and managing professional photographic content and graphic design assets that reinforce Boise State's institutional identity. Your work will span print and digital media, directly shaping how the university connects with audiences through carefully crafted visual materials and strategic brand presence.

What You'll Do

• Create and produce professional photographs and graphic design work for university departments and communications initiatives
• Develop visual assets across print materials, web platforms, social media, and digital marketing channels
• Coordinate design projects from planning through final delivery, working with campus stakeholders
• Maintain photographic libraries and organize artwork to support institutional messaging
• Analyze the performance and effectiveness of visual communications to guide strategy refinement
• Consult with university departments on design standards, visual best practices, and brand consistency
• Stay informed about current design tools, software capabilities, and visual communication trends

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in professional graphic design and photography, ideally in an institutional context
• Strong proficiency with industry-standard design and photo editing software
• Deep understanding of visual branding principles, design fundamentals, and digital workflows
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Experience designing for both traditional and digital media formats
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, photography, communications, or related field (or equivalent professional portfolio)
