Bilingual Spanish Special Education Teacher

Distinctive Schools of IL is hiring a Bilingual Spanish Special Education Teacher for our Chicago campus in Cook County. This is a full-time position starting August 2026, offering a competitive starting salary of $70,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Join our team as a Special Education Teacher serving Spanish-speaking students and families. You'll lead an inclusive classroom where bilingual instruction and specialized support combine to help students with diverse learning needs reach their academic potential. Your classroom becomes a space where language, cultural responsiveness, and individualized education plans work together to support student success.

What You'll Do

• Plan and deliver specialized instruction aligned to individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
• Provide bilingual classroom instruction in Spanish and English, adapting content to meet diverse learning styles and academic levels
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies based on observation and assessment data
• Collaborate with special education specialists, general education colleagues, and support staff to ensure coordinated student services
• Maintain frequent communication with families in Spanish and English, supporting active partnership in their child's education
• Maintain comprehensive classroom and student records, including all documentation required for special education compliance
• Model positive behavior and create a classroom culture where all students feel safe, valued, and capable

What We're Looking For

• Illinois teaching license in Special Education or clear path to licensure
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (speaking and writing)
• Experience teaching students with disabilities or other special educational needs
• Knowledge of IEP development, special education law, and differentiated instruction
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Genuine commitment to equity and serving students from historically underrepresented communities
• Collaborative approach to school teamwork and professional growth
