AWS CWI & UTSW Level II – Anchorage AK

Mistras is hiring a full-time AWS Certified Welding Inspector & Ultrasonic Shear Wave Level II Technician to join our Alaska operations in Kenai, Kenai Peninsula. In this hands-on NDT role, you'll evaluate critical infrastructure and ensure industry-standard welding quality across challenging projects throughout the region.

About the Role

You'll lead non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on weldments, piping systems, and fixed equipment in assigned operational areas. Working within Mistras' Alaska special projects callout division, you'll take on project-based assignments that may be local or involve remote locations. This position demands technical precision, safety focus, and the ability to deliver accurate inspection reports that protect infrastructure integrity.

What You'll Do

• Perform advanced ultrasonic shear wave inspections on welds and structural components
• Conduct visual and dimensional welding inspection to AWS D1.1 standards
• Evaluate piping systems, pressure vessels, and fixed equipment for defects and compliance
• Document inspection findings in detailed reports for engineering and compliance teams
• Travel to job sites across Alaska as project scheduling requires
• Maintain equipment calibration and follow safety protocols on every assignment
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve material and fabrication concerns

What We're Looking For

• Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
• Current ASNT Level II Ultrasonic Shear Wave qualification
• Proven experience in NDT testing, welding inspection, or industrial quality assurance
• Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API)
• Ability to work independently and in teams across variable job sites
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Alaska
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and accuracy
