Associate/Full Professor/INST Director

Washington State University is recruiting an Associate or Full Professor and/or Instructional Director in Chemistry for a tenure-track faculty position based in Pullman, Whitman County, Washington. This is a full-time role at a premier research institution committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.

About the Role

As a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry, you will lead an independent research program while contributing to our department's teaching mission. This position offers the opportunity to build a robust research portfolio, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and collaborate with colleagues across the university's science and engineering programs. Successful candidates will establish themselves as leaders in their research discipline and help advance WSU's chemistry education and research impact.

What You'll Do

• Develop and direct a funded research program in your area of chemistry specialization
• Publish peer-reviewed research findings and establish a strong scholarly record
• Teach chemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
• Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers
• Pursue external research funding through competitive grants and fellowships
• Participate in departmental and university service activities
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Chemistry or a closely related field
• Demonstrated track record of successful, continuous research activity
• Evidence of scholarly impact through publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Prior success in securing external research funding
• Professional research proposal detailing research vision and startup budget requirements
• Strong letters of recommendation from your scientific community
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentorship
