JCrew is seeking an Assistant Merchant for Women's Dresses & Skirts in New York City, New York. This full-time position offers the opportunity to help shape the curation, positioning, and performance of one of the most essential categories in our women's collection.

About the Role

As Assistant Merchant for Women's Dresses & Skirts, you'll partner with our merchandising team to drive category strategy and product selection. You'll support inventory decisions, analyze market trends, and ensure our dresses and skirts lineup resonates with JCrew's customers while maintaining our standards for quality and distinctive style. This role bridges buying, planning, and retail to deliver assortments that inspire our customers every day.

What You'll Do

• Support product curation and selection for the women's dresses and skirts category
• Analyze sales data and customer feedback to inform merchandising decisions
• Collaborate with design, planning, and vendor partners to optimize inventory and assortment
• Evaluate trend opportunities and competitive positioning within the category
• Monitor category performance and provide insights to improve sell-through and profitability
• Contribute to seasonal planning and promotional strategy
• Support communications with retail teams to ensure alignment on category strategy

What We're Looking For

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Demonstrated interest in fashion, retail, and women's apparel
• Ability to work collaboratively across functions and at a fast pace
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A genuine passion for creating distinctive, quality-driven assortments
• Prior experience in merchandising, buying, retail, or related field is a plus
