About the Role
As the Director of Human Resources and Personnel, you will serve as a strategic leader reporting directly to the Superintendent. You will manage all HR functions for the district, overseeing human resources initiatives, policy development, and personnel administration. You'll supervise the HR Assistant and work to ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations while fostering a positive workplace culture for faculty and staff.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with district goals
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for teachers and administrative staff
- Manage employee relations, performance evaluations, and professional development programs
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, Title IX, and other state and federal requirements
- Administer compensation, benefits, and payroll coordination
- Lead employee performance management and disciplinary processes as needed
- Supervise and mentor the HR Assistant in daily operations
- Serve as a liaison between administration, staff, and the Superintendent on personnel matters
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with preference for K-12 school district background
- Deep knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and education-specific regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
- Proficiency with HR management systems and Microsoft Office
- Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
