Community Outreach Specialist I/II (Part-Time)

San Joaquin Regional Transit District is hiring a Community Outreach Specialist I/II for a part-time role based in Stockton, serving San Joaquin County. In this position, you'll strengthen the connection between our transit system and the residents and organizations we serve by facilitating meaningful dialogue, building relationships, and representing RTD across our community.

About the Role

Under general supervision, this role encompasses a range of professional responsibilities focused on enhancing customer experience and expanding RTD's presence throughout San Joaquin County. You'll work to bridge communication between RTD staff, riders, and the broader community—ensuring that residents understand our services and that RTD remains responsive to community needs.

What You'll Do

• Represent San Joaquin Regional Transit District at community events, meetings, and public forums
• Develop and deliver presentations about transit services, safety, and accessibility to diverse audiences
• Build collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools, government agencies, and local leaders
• Engage with riders and residents to gather feedback and identify service improvement opportunities
• Support the planning and execution of outreach campaigns and community initiatives
• Travel throughout Stockton and San Joaquin County to conduct outreach and attend community meetings
• Document community interactions and prepare reports to inform RTD's outreach strategy

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent education
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community groups
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
• Comfort presenting to groups and facilitating group discussions
• Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred) is valuable in serving our community
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation for travel within the county
