About the Role
The Advancement Officer for Athletics & Affinity Giving serves as a strategic member of Gannon University's Advancement team, focusing exclusively on identifying and cultivating support for Knight Nation Athletics and related affinity giving opportunities. You'll manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, converting interest into meaningful gifts that advance both athletic programs and the university's mission.
What You'll Do
- Research and identify prospective donors whose interests align with athletics and affinity giving initiatives
- Qualify donors to assess giving capacity and readiness for solicitation
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships through personalized outreach, event participation, and ongoing stewardship
- Solicit gifts at all levels through proposals, conversations, and collaborative solicitation efforts with leadership
- Track donor interactions, pipeline metrics, and fundraising progress in the advancement database
- Create compelling case statements, briefing materials, and donor communications
- Support athletic events, fundraising functions, and donor appreciation activities
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated fundraising or donor relations experience in higher education or nonprofit settings
- Excellent relationship-building, listening, and communication skills
- Ability to manage a portfolio of donors and prospects independently and professionally
- Understanding of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship best practices
- Passion for collegiate athletics and higher education's transformational mission
- Strong organizational and writing skills with meticulous attention to detail
