Robert Half is hiring a full-time Accounts Receivable Clerk in Portland, Maine to join a growing Portland-based team. About the Role
As an Accounts Receivable Clerk, you'll be the backbone of our receivables function, managing the full lifecycle of customer accounts from invoice generation through payment reconciliation. Your work directly impacts cash flow and financial health, making accuracy and timeliness essential to your success.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and issue invoices, ensuring all billing details are correct and complete
- Post incoming customer payments to accounts and reconcile discrepancies
- Monitor overdue accounts and follow up with customers on outstanding balances
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all receivables transactions
- Communicate with customers regarding payment terms, invoice status, and account inquiries
- Generate receivables reports and aging schedules for management review
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in accounts receivable or a similar accounting and finance clerical role
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- High school diploma or equivalent; accounting coursework or certification is a plus
