Position Summary

The 12 Week Contract RN - Peds Cath Lab - Days position at Vcuhealth centers on providing safe, patient-centered nursing support during pediatric cath lab procedures in Richmond, VA. Working full time on day shifts, the registered nurse helps prepare children and families, maintains vigilance throughout cases, and ensures smooth transitions of care. Your Responsibilities

• Prepare pediatric patients and the cath lab suite for diagnostic and interventional procedures, verifying readiness and safety protocols.
• Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic data, and patient status continuously during catheterization cases and communicate findings promptly to the interventional team.
• Administer medications, assist with vascular access, and support procedural workflow under physician direction.
• Deliver post-procedure recovery care, watching for complications and educating families on next steps.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately while upholding sterile technique and infection-control standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and fellow nurses to coordinate daily cases and maintain an efficient days-shift schedule.
• Respond to emergencies according to established protocols and participate in unit quality and safety activities.

Qualifications

• Current unencumbered registered nurse license valid for practice in Virginia.
• Proven clinical background in pediatric nursing, cath lab settings, or critical care environments involving cardiac procedures.
• Active certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and PALS preferred for safe management of pediatric patients.
• Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills suited to a fast-paced procedural lab.
