In this full-time leadership capacity you set the clinical vision, protect patient safety, and build a resilient, high-performing staff capable of managing complex medical and surgical progressive care populations. Success depends on translating evidence-based standards into daily operations, cultivating interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuously refining unit performance so that patients receive seamless step-down care before discharge or transfer.
Core Duties
- Direct all nursing operations within the Progressive Care Unit to guarantee reliable, high-quality care delivery
- Recruit, onboard, schedule, coach, and evaluate PCU nursing personnel while fostering professional growth
- Partner with physicians, respiratory therapists, and ancillary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient plans
- Uphold regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards that govern progressive care practice
- Design and sustain quality-improvement, patient-safety, and infection-prevention programs tailored to the PCU
- Oversee unit resources, supplies, and equipment so staffing and infrastructure remain optimally aligned
- Establish and revise progressive-care protocols rooted in current evidence and telemetry best practice

What You Bring
- Active Registered Nurse license recognized by the State of Texas
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing; graduate nursing degree strongly preferred
- Solid progressive care, step-down, or critical-care bedside experience
- Documented leadership tenure managing nurses in an acute-care environment
- Thorough command of progressive-care pathophysiology, monitoring, and intervention standards
- Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and team-building abilities
