About the Role
The Spring Shelter, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Advocate Support staff member to provide direct assistance to individuals staying in our crisis shelter. In this part-time position, you'll work Saturday and Sunday mornings through early afternoons (7am-3pm), delivering empathetic, trauma-informed support to people rebuilding their lives following domestic violence, sexual violence, or human trafficking.
What You'll Do
- Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to shelter residents
- Assist with safety planning and resource navigation
- Connect survivors with counseling, legal, medical, and community services
- Document interactions and progress to inform care coordination
- Maintain a trauma-informed, non-judgmental approach in all interactions
- Contribute to a safe, welcoming shelter environment
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated compassion and commitment to supporting vulnerable populations
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Understanding of domestic violence, sexual violence, or human trafficking dynamics
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Reliability and flexibility to maintain weekend availability
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience considered
