Position Summary
The Director, Philanthropy & Major Gifts will lead the development and execution of strategies to secure major gifts and philanthropic support for the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). This role is crucial in advancing IDSA’s mission to improve health through excellence in patient care, education, research, public health, and prevention related to infectious diseases.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop and implement major gifts fundraising strategies
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward key donors and prospects
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure consistent communication and coordination across all fundraising efforts
- Contribute to the overall development strategy and fundraising campaigns
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff members in the philanthropy department
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in major gifts fundraising or a related field
- A proven track record of securing significant donations from individual donors, foundations, and corporations
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and inspire potential donors
- Experienced in developing comprehensive donor stewardship plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in donor database management systems
- A passion for infectious diseases and public health initiatives
