Build the skills for this role
Prioritize: secure auth/session design, OAuth/OIDC concepts, API design, distributed systems basics, and strong code review habits. No certification list was provided for this role family—skip paid cert shopping unless Airbnb’s loop explicitly asks.
Expect coding plus system design with security-minded scenarios (auth, identity, access control). Practice clear tradeoffs on reliability and least privilege. Be ready to discuss past work shipping client-facing or internal platform services under production constraints.
Strong fit if you enjoy identity/auth, platform reliability, and partnering across business tech at a large marketplace company. Weaker fit if you want pure consumer product UI work with little security or access-control depth.
