Produce Clerk

About This Position

As a Produce Clerk at Hyvee, you'll play a key role in maintaining one of our most visible and important departments. This full-time produce position offers the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal items daily while delivering excellent customer service in a community-focused grocery setting. You'll take pride in creating an organized, visually appealing produce section that reflects Hyvee's commitment to quality and freshness.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and organize incoming produce shipments to maintain inventory accuracy
• Stock shelves and displays with fresh fruits, vegetables, and specialty produce, ensuring proper rotation and freshness dating
• Inspect produce for quality and remove any damaged or spoiled items promptly
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the produce section, including trimming, washing, and preparing items for display
• Assist customers with product selection and answer questions about availability, ripeness, and preparation
• Operate produce department equipment safely and maintain compliance with food safety standards
• Process transactions and handle cash or card payments when needed
• Work collaboratively with other produce team members to meet department goals

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and stand for extended periods
• Attention to detail and commitment to food safety and quality standards
• Strong communication skills and genuine interest in helping customers
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliability and willingness to work flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends
• Experience with point-of-sale systems or retail environments a plus, though training is provided
