Role Overview

As Maintenance Supervisor – Ammonia Refrigeration at our Saint Pauls facility, you'll lead maintenance operations for critical ammonia cooling systems. You'll manage a team of technicians, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensure all work meets EPA standards and industry safety requirements. This is a hands-on supervisory role where technical expertise in ammonia refrigeration directly impacts facility reliability and worker safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance operations of ammonia refrigeration equipment and systems
• Lead, mentor, and schedule maintenance technicians and support staff
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and oversee repair of refrigeration compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related components
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
• Ensure compliance with EPA regulations, PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements, and OSHA safety standards
• Conduct safety briefings and maintain documentation of all maintenance activities
• Monitor system performance, pressures, temperatures, and efficiency metrics
• Manage maintenance budgets, inventory, and equipment procurement
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and coordinate urgent repairs
• Maintain detailed records and reports on maintenance history and equipment status

Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration maintenance or similar industrial refrigeration systems
• Proven supervisory or team lead experience
• Strong knowledge of ammonia safety protocols and hazard recognition
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and system schematics
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
