Senior Technischer Facility Manager (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential logistics organization seeking a Senior Technical Facility Manager to oversee their highly automated fulfillment center in Essen. In this role, you will serve as the technical mastermind behind a complex, fully automated facility, operating at a macro-technical level to ensure building infrastructure and advanced automation systems work together seamlessly.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Bearing sole responsibility for the technical condition and operational safety of the automated facility, bridging the gap between building services and logistics processes
• Serving as the primary strategic point of contact for site management and working alongside automation and engineering leadership
• Managing critical system failures under high pressure, coordinating highly specialized service providers and producing precise root cause analyses
• Leading highly complex, large-volume technical projects (CAPEX/OPEX) and managing specialized contracts for advanced cooling and IoT systems
• Utilizing advanced data models and IoT infrastructure tools to proactively solve systemic problems and drive network-wide innovations
• Managing substantial budgets and complex service contracts to ensure technical operational readiness in a high-stakes environment

What We're Looking For

• A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Facility Management, Building Services Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical field
• 5–7 years of solid professional experience in technical facility management, ideally supporting highly automated logistics centers with automated material handling systems
• Fluent German and very good English language skills
• Valid Class B driver's license
• Conceptual, abstract thinking ability at the macro level combined with the capability to translate complex technical requirements into clear operational steps
• A strong owner mentality with the ability to set exceptionally high technical standards and defend facility management requirements even under operational pressure
• Experience managing stakeholders at senior leadership levels and coordinating across technical and operational teams
