Senior Bilanzbuchhalter / Senior Accountant (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Berlin-based finance team. In this role, you will:

• Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under German GAAP (HGB) for multiple legal entities
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations while ensuring proper accruals and provisions
• Prepare and submit VAT pre-registrations, intrastat reports, and statistical filings; serve as point of contact for day-to-day tax matters
• Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, regulatory examiners, and banking partners
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives in collaboration with ERP and business intelligence teams
• Manage intercompany reconciliations and transactions across group entities
• Mentor and support junior accounting colleagues in technical development

What We're Looking For

• Completed commercial apprenticeship or degree in finance/accounting plus certification as a Certified Accountant (Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter IHK) or equivalent qualification
• 4–5 years of solid experience in financial accounting, ideally within e-commerce, retail, or technology environments
• Excellent knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and German tax law; IFRS experience is a plus
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as DATEV, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central, along with advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical thinking, affinity for numbers, precision, and a self-directed, goal-oriented work style
• Fluent German (C2 level) and very good written and spoken English
