Lead System Engineer (m/w/d) Automotive Entwicklung Luxemburg / Remote (1720)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential automotive technology client seeking a Lead System Engineer to drive complex electronic vehicle system development projects. In this role, you will orchestrate system engineering from customer requirements through final system release, coordinate releases and development scope, and provide technical leadership to the systems project team. This position is primarily remote with regular project assignments in Luxembourg (approximately 30% travel).

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering work packages from requirements definition through system approval, ensuring timely delivery across all project phases
• Plan work packages, responsibilities, dependencies, resources, schedules, and milestones; manage implementation across releases and sprints
• Define product and release scope, coordinate changes, and ensure technical readiness for upcoming releases and milestones
• Manage stakeholder and system requirements development, ensuring quality, prioritization, and complete traceability
• Ensure consistent implementation of requirements and architecture specifications across software, hardware, and testing
• Coordinate technical alignment with customers and across software, hardware, test, functional safety, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and other departments
• Provide technical leadership to the systems project team, track risks and development progress, and represent system status in customer, release, and project meetings

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a comparable technical field
• Several years of experience in automotive, automotive electronics, e-mobility, or a comparable environment
• Proven experience in technical leadership of projects or teams
• Strong knowledge of electronic control unit (ECU) development, ideally in the high-voltage inverter domain
• Solid understanding of systems engineering, requirements management, system integration, and release processes with strong process-oriented thinking
• Knowledge of relevant automotive standards including ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE
• Experience with project, requirements, and ticket management systems such as Microsoft Project, Polarion, DOORS, JIRA, or IBM Rational RTC
• Excellent German and English language skills with intercultural competence
• Willingness to work on-site in Luxembourg approximately 30% of the time
