Senior Meta Designer – Unannouced Project

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential mobile gaming studio seeking a Senior Meta Designer for an unannounced first-person shooter project in London. In this role, you will take ownership of designing, prototyping, and implementing progression, economy, and engagement features that drive player retention and satisfaction.

You will manage key metagame features from conception through live operations, coordinating with design, art, UX, engineering, and product management teams throughout the development process. Your responsibilities include:

• Designing and balancing in-game economies across multiple metagame features
• Defining, analyzing, and acting on analytics, feature data, and KPIs to boost engagement
• Collaborating with live operations and product teams to implement solutions that meet engagement goals
• Analyzing player data, feedback, and behaviors to identify and resolve retention barriers
• Working concurrently on multiple features at varying stages of development in a fast-paced environment
• Documenting and communicating feature concepts clearly to ensure alignment across all teams
• Partnering with UX and engineering to ensure features meet both technical and engagement requirements

This hybrid position requires 2 days per week in the London office.

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a designer with proven experience shipping and operating live service games. Essential qualifications include:

• Previous experience in metagame, progression, or engagement design roles within the video game industry
• At least one shipped title in a design role for a live service game
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing progression, economy, or engagement features for live games
• Strong knowledge of KPI analysis and player behavior data interpretation
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine
• Ability to analyze gameplay data and player feedback to inform design decisions
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work effectively across cross-disciplinary teams
• Capacity to manage multiple designs simultaneously in a dynamic development environment
• Passion for action games with deep understanding of what creates engaging player experiences

Bonus qualifications:

• Background in mobile games with understanding of mobile player behavior and market trends
• Experience with visual scripting or rapid prototyping tools
• Genuine enthusiasm for crafting progression systems that motivate players over extended periods
