Senior Engineer I, Field Service

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential semiconductor equipment organization seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to serve as an internal escalation lead. In this role, you will use deep system-level expertise to resolve the most complex technical challenges across multiple manufacturing toolsets.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading internal escalations and root-cause investigations for complex, multi-factor technical issues
• Diagnosing system interactions across mechanical, electrical, software, and process-integration domains
• Identifying performance trends in areas such as gas delivery, thermal control, and process deviations, and driving resolution with Field Service Engineers
• Mentoring peers on advanced diagnostic strategies and contributing to improvements in troubleshooting protocols
• Supervising safety procedures, providing team training, and supporting internal and external safety audits
• Mapping unit-process variables to device physics and designing DOEs to enhance yield and stability
• Selecting appropriate measurement techniques for sensitivity and sample constraints and troubleshooting instrumentation
• Coordinating escalations, quantifying technical and operational risk, and preventing issue recurrence
• Aligning customer needs with design constraints and drafting upgrade proposals spanning multiple fabrication facilities
• Leading complex escalations while balancing production pressure and technical risk, and capturing lessons learned

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of experience, OR a Master's degree with 4+ years of experience
• Deep understanding of tool architecture, process interactions, and advanced system-level troubleshooting
• Demonstrated experience leading root-cause investigations and cross-functional escalations
• Ability to interpret complex schematics and diagnose issues involving multiple engineering disciplines
• Experience supervising safety compliance and supporting audit activities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues
• Ability to work independently and lead teams in high-pressure situations
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Proficiency with MS Office

Preferred qualifications that set you apart:

• Strong expertise in gas delivery, thermal control, vacuum systems, plasma, RF, or instrumentation
• Experience mapping process variables to device physics and designing DOEs
• Background coordinating cross-site escalations or multi-fab upgrade initiatives
• Ability to influence customers and guide discussions during high-impact technical escalations
• Experience mentoring peers and shaping troubleshooting methodologies
