Senior Backend Engineer – Product (Remote)

We are representing a well-funded European fintech organization that is transforming how businesses manage their financial operations. They need a Senior Backend Engineer who thinks like a product builder and thrives in collaborative, cross-functional environments.

This is a remote position based in Germany, offering the opportunity to work on robust, scalable financial infrastructure that serves hundreds of thousands of businesses across Europe.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll join a domain team where backend, frontend, mobile, ML/AI engineers, and QA professionals work together to own and evolve shared product areas. Your responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining distributed systems in production environments using.NET/C# and related technologies
• Collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers from other disciplines to design elegant end-to-end solutions
• Taking ownership of outcomes, not just code—proactively identifying opportunities to create better products
• Architecting scalable, maintainable solutions for data-intensive financial applications
• Ensuring quality through automated testing, thorough code reviews, and security best practices
• Contributing to team processes and mentoring colleagues
• Understanding and working within regulated environment constraints
• Balancing technical excellence with pragmatism to deliver real user value

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone who is pragmatic, learns quickly, and has a proven track record of shipping products that matter. You should communicate clearly across disciplines and genuinely enjoy cross-functional team dynamics.

Required qualifications:

• At least 5 years of professional backend development with a product engineering mindset
• Excellent knowledge of.NET platform and C#
• Hands-on experience architecting and evolving distributed systems in production
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers from other disciplines
• Strong business acumen—understanding how your work connects to company objectives
• Clear, concise communication in English across technical and non-technical audiences
• A builder's mentality: caring deeply about shipping great products, not just writing great code

Technical environment:

You'll work with.NET/C#, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Kubernetes, and GCP. You'll collaborate with teams using React, Swift, Kotlin, Python/ML frameworks, and modern test automation tools.
