VP of Product & Engineering – Back of House

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential hospitality technology client in their search for a VP of Product & Engineering to lead their Back of House domain. This is a rare dual-mandate role combining product strategy and engineering leadership at VP level, covering one of the most complex, multi-service domains in their platform.

You'll own the full domain end-to-end: strategy, roadmap, and the engineering organization that builds it. This isn't a narrow platform mandate—it spans product and engineering together, with the scope to make real calls on both and the trust to run it as one connected domain. You'll work with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones, reporting into senior leadership.

The Back of House software supports hotel operational teams who depend on it every day. It must stay reliable while continuously improving, and the next phase involves applying AI directly to systems that support hotel teams at a scale most engineering leaders never experience.

Responsibilities

• Own product and engineering strategy for the Back of House domain end-to-end across a multi-service architecture
• Lead globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones, building structures that enable coordinated delivery
• Build out a management team and develop senior individual contributors, growing a culture that scales effectively
• Improve reliability, performance, and technical debt as ongoing disciplines without halting customer delivery
• Determine where AI genuinely belongs in the product and ship AI-driven improvements that transform daily workflows for hotel teams
• Make strategic decisions on both product direction and engineering implementation with full autonomy

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Combined Product and Engineering ownership at VP level, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a complex, multi-service product domain
• Proven track record running globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones
• Experience operating inside a scaling SaaS business, ideally Series C through pre-IPO or recently public, as an operator rather than adviser
• Strong people leadership: managing managers, developing senior ICs, and building healthy team cultures at scale
• Track record of improving reliability, performance, and technical debt without stopping delivery
• Advanced AI fluency: you've shipped AI as a genuine part of a product, understand underlying models and infrastructure well enough to make engineering decisions, and can determine where AI belongs in product strategy

Preferred experience:

• Hands-on experience in hospitality technology systems (PMS, POS, channel management, revenue management, or adjacent systems)
• Travel tech experience (airlines, GDS, travel management) or comparable operationally critical, high-availability B2B platforms
• Founder or early-stage builder experience, having built products from zero to scale

Pay

This is a VP-level executive role.
