Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential adtech organization in Hamburg, and our talent team is seeking a Senior Android Developer to own critical mobile SDK development and data infrastructure. You will develop and optimize a high-performance SDK written in Kotlin that runs inside hundreds of publisher applications. Your code will participate in millions of daily auctions, render ad creatives across multiple formats, and capture behavioral signals that power machine learning predictions at massive scale.
You will collaborate with backend teams to design APIs and maintain strict backward compatibility for thousands of external integrators. Your work will ensure every ad impression feels native and fast while executing inside third-party apps with zero tolerance for instability. You will monitor and debug SDK reliability across millions of global users, leveraging observability tools to track errors and turn raw data into clear engineering decisions. You will also maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines to guarantee efficient, reliable delivery of mobile libraries.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of Android development experience (or 3+ years specifically in SDK or library development)
- Expert-level Kotlin proficiency and deep understanding of Android lifecycles, ProGuard/R8, and multithreading
- Strong track record in API design and maintaining backward compatibility for external integrators
- Experience with high-performance networking protocols such as gRPC, Protobuf, Wire, and OkHTTP
- Proven ability to optimize for resource-constrained environments, minimizing battery impact and memory usage
- Hands-on experience with Gradle and GitLab CI for build automation and delivery
- Familiarity with observability and data tools including Sentry, Kibana, and AWS services (S3, QuickSight, Athena)
- Plus: Experience in adtech or programmatic advertising, familiarity with IAB specifications, NDK/JNI (C/C++ interop on Android), or parallel iOS development experience
