Senior System Engineer (Virtual Private Cloud Team)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization in their search for a Senior System Engineer to join their Virtual Private Cloud team. This is a critical role building the core networking layer that enables secure, isolated private networks and essential networking services for cloud customers across Europe.

Our client is a fast-growing platform serving the AI and cloud computing space, with engineering hubs across Europe and a commitment to solving complex infrastructure challenges at scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop control and data plane components for cloud network services
• Increase service scalability to support growing platform demand
• Design and implement networking functionality including IPv6 support, service endpoints, VPC peering, and load balancers
• Improve service performance, reliability, and internal architecture
• Optimize interaction with related cloud services
• Automate complex cross-service interaction scenarios
• Perform load testing to ensure system resilience and stability
• Build systems that remain operational even during partial infrastructure failures

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven ability to write reliable, high-performance code
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Go, with willingness to learn both languages
• Strong understanding of routing network traffic
• Experience building production systems at scale
• Authorization to work in the Netherlands or broader Europe

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with VPP, DPDK, and the Linux kernel network subsystem
• Deep knowledge of virtual networks and overlays, SDN, NFV, DPI
• Expertise in network protocols, routing and tunneling, BGP, and MPLS
