Bengali Document Specialist – Fully Remote | Upto $12/hr

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking Bengali document specialists for a fully remote contract role. Our client works with multilingual datasets that power next-generation language models, and they need native Bengali experts to ensure accuracy and cultural authenticity in their training materials.

Responsibilities

• Source publicly accessible Bengali PDF documents in assigned categories that contain multimodal elements such as images, tables, diagrams, or handwritten content, and document their origin
• Annotate document structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region—titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields—then assign component types and reading-order indices
• Record relationships by linking each region to its parent component (figures, tables) through structured identifiers
• Transcribe all text exactly as it appears in Bengali script, including handwritten content, and flag any illegible regions
• Capture comprehensive page metadata including language, document type, source, dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting
• Review colleagues' work end-to-end as a second Bengali expert, ensuring quality and consistency across the dataset

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Native Bengali speaker with complete command of the script, diacritics, and conjunct forms
• Professional experience with document work: annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review
• Character-level precision—a single incorrect diacritic is considered a defect
• Ability to systematically apply taxonomies across hundreds of pages
• Comfort working with diverse layouts including multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten forms

Preferred:

• Regional-language AI data experience: annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation for training datasets
• Transcription and localization background: machine translation post-editing, subtitling, bilingual QA, OCR correction
• Document production skills: typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, or digitization of Bengali materials
• Technical knowledge of Bengali script: Unicode normalization, input methods, numeral-form and character-form accuracy
