About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential social science research organization in Mannheim, Germany. They are seeking a Graduate Student Research Assistant to support cutting-edge work evaluating AI-generated survey data quality. This is a part-time temporary position (40 hours per month) ideal for a Master's student with strong programming and statistical skills.
You will join a specialized team that advises researchers on survey and ancillary data quality, developing indicators, guidelines, tools, and training materials. Specifically, you'll contribute to a project building a programmatic pipeline for detecting quality issues in synthetic survey data generated by AI systems.
Responsibilities
- Co-develop a data quality analysis pipeline in R/Python, integrating existing packages and creating new workflows
- Collect, process, and analyze AI-generated survey data
- Conduct literature and software research on evaluation metrics for synthetic data and data quality assessment
- Prepare documentation and presentations for research findings
- Provide administrative support for AI-related survey research initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Master's program at the intersection of social and data science (e.g., Social Data Science, Computational Social Science, Big Data, or quantitative-focused Social Sciences such as Sociology or Political Science)
- Strong programming skills in R (Python experience is a plus)
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methods, both theory and practice
- Demonstrated experience processing and analyzing social science data
- Reliable, rigorous, and independent problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in English (German language skills are advantageous)
