Senior Quality Engineer, Chassis and Powertrain

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential advanced automotive organization seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to drive quality performance across chassis systems and selected powertrain activities throughout the full product lifecycle.

In this role, you will own supplier development and production readiness by assessing manufacturing capability, applying qualification frameworks, and leading APQP, PPAP, audit, and production-readiness activities. You'll review critical manufacturing controls including FMEAs, Control Plans, and process capability studies, challenging gaps and driving corrective actions where needed.

You will maintain ownership of Quality Engineering follow-up for assigned suppliers and components after launch, monitoring performance, leading containment and root-cause analysis for supplier concerns, and coordinating incoming inspection requirements when necessary. The position includes local UK execution support for selected powertrain suppliers while maintaining alignment with system owners and relevant engineering teams.

A key aspect of this role involves owning and coordinating the product-quality ticket landscape for the assigned vehicle system, including Issues, Enhancements, Field Action Requests, and other applicable concerns. You'll ensure concerns are clearly defined, prioritized, and progressed with appropriate containment and corrective action across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and suppliers.

You will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Quality Engineering standards and documentation, capturing lessons learned from supplier and product-quality experience, and ensuring applicable requirements are consistently deployed internally and within the supplier base.

What We're Looking For

We need someone with strong ownership and a proven track record of taking complex issues through to effective closure, with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment. Practical experience in Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical environment within high-complexity manufacturing is essential.

You must have hands-on experience working with suppliers and manufacturing processes, with solid structured problem-solving capability. Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and production-process qualification is required, with the ability to apply these tools practically and proportionally.

The ideal candidate can understand engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements, translating them into practical quality controls. Previous GD&T experience is a plus. You should be confident working cross-functionally and constructively challenging suppliers or internal stakeholders when required while maintaining effective working relationships.

Strong prioritization skills in a fast-moving environment are essential, combining a practical, data-driven approach with sound judgment to focus effort on the highest quality risks. Excellent communication skills and curiosity to develop detailed understanding of products and manufacturing processes are critical.

Experience within automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or other high-complexity manufacturing environments is essential. Chassis or powertrain experience is advantageous but not essential where strong transferable technical capability can be demonstrated. Experience with low-volume, high-value, high-performance, and technically complex products is particularly relevant.

This is a remote position based in the United Kingdom.
